Sunday, May 5, 2019 1:00 p.m. – "THE COBOURG FERRY"

The New York Museum of Transportation completes its Sunday WinterFun 2019 series with a presentation by Tom Brewer about the steam ferry service across Lake Ontario that once connected Rochester with our Canadian neighbors. Mr. Brewers' illustrated talk will take place on Sunday, May 5 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The presentation is free with the family friendly admission of $4 adults and $3 for youths age 3 – 12.

The Ontario Car Ferry Co., Ltd. operated two ships to carry railroad cars and passengers to and from Cobourg, Ontario, Canada from 1907 until 1950. Mr. Brewer is a member of the Charlotte/Genesee Lighthouse Historical Society, and his collection of images depicting the ferry service will bring back another important chapter in this area's transportation history.

The many trolley cars, steam locomotive, and fire truck at the New York Museum of Transportation will all be doing their part to illustrate transportation history in “hands-on” fashion, while numerous exhibits of photos, models and artwork are sure to delight visitors of all ages. An exhibit of the Midtown Plaza Monorail is the museum's newest vehicle for telling our area's transportation story.

The museum is open Sundays only, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is located at 6393 East River Road, West Henrietta, NY. Take I-390 south to exit 11, NY Rt. 251 West, then 1 mile north on East River Road. (585) 533-1113.
